Date night

With Oliver.  I love having dates with my boys.  It's my time to share something they love with them.  It's even better if it's something we both love!  Pastor Husband has a lot in common with our boys and it's easy for him to do stuff with them they love.  When either boys hear, "Let's play Star Wars Legos" come out of their daddy's mouth, they get excited (or any other video game).  I don't have quite as much in common with them.

Oliver and I both like to watch auction shows on tv.  We like Auction Kings, Storage Wars and Auction Hunters.  Tonight we watched an Auction Hunters marathon!  It culminated with two brand new episodes that rocked.  They were so cool!  I think they appeal to us because they appeal to our inner bargain hunter.

We enjoy guessing how much Allen and Ton will get for the stuff they find in the storage units.  Oliver almost always guesses under and I almost always go about $50 over.  I personally think it's a great show to teach him about estimating value, negotiating deals, and making money in business.  He sees that they have to make more than they spend on those storage lockers to be in business.  He also gets to see that it can be really fun to be in business.  LOL...he even gets to see that it's fun to do math...gotta do math to see how much ya make!

I can totally see Oliver doing something like this for a living when he grows up.  He's my little bargain hunter.  ROFLOL...he told his daddy one time when he was about 3 years old that dad couldn't have something because it wasn't on sale.  Atta boy!!!

  1. I love the date night with your kiddos! It's something I'd love to do. And we love the same shows! It's good to be able to sit down and watch something together as a family.

  4. Sounds like fun! I can't wait until my boys are old enough to really do a "date" night that lasts more than 5 minutes before they are bored! :)

  5. I have been trying to be intentional with dates with my kids lately. Love it. It makes them feel so special, and since these days are so fleeting, it's good to hold on to every one.

  6. That sounds like fun. I want to start implementing dates with Adrian... need to find something that appeals to him other than video games, though!

  7. Just learn to play video games! Sometimes that's what I have to do with Noah. :) Today we went shopping. That's what he asked to do.

  9. I want to do date nights to. Just haven't quite made it a priority on our calendar. We should work on that this season.
